Autumn is here and the leaves are changing. Maybe not so much in the valley, but just two short hours north of Phoenix is the “hub” of the White Mountains – Snowflake / Taylor, Arizona. Offering some of the most exciting recreational opportunities in Arizona (not to mention four REAL seasons), this day trip is guaranteed to offer something for everyone.
Snowflake / Taylor is also home to the premiere walking/driving tour of over 100 historical buildings & homes 45 homes listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places. Eight of the homes offer historical exhibits and can be toured from Tuesday through Saturday. The tour is available on MP3 players available from the Snowflake / Taylor Chamber of Commerce and relates stories of early pioneers and the history of their historic homes.
Spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, and quilting demonstrations are also available and invite visitor participation. Hire a horse drawn wagon for your group by appointment.
A short drive south finds a variety of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, hiking, and snow skiing & boarding. From majestic, 360 degree views of Monument Valley, to the Historic Route 66 drive, the area is packed full of adventure, scenic White Mountains views, and home to the largest standing Ponderosa Pine in the world.
Combined with an abundance of local attractions, you’ll find Snowflake / Taylor to be the perfect spot to “see and do it all” in northeastern Arizona!
